SRI LANKA - FLOWERS [ CANNONBALL TREE ]

The tree gets its  name from the large, spherical fruit it produces.
The fruits when mature, fall from the tree and crack open when they hit
the ground often causing the sound of a small explosion. The flowers have
petals which are large, orange-red, and emit a strong fragrance. This tree
was photographed opposite the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy.

  1. I've never heard of the cannonball tree but its flowers are beautiful and those fruit certainly do look like cannonballs stuck up the tree.
    Such wonderful colours!
