Stingless bees are a diverse group of bees belonging to the tribe Meliponini, which is part of the larger Apidae family. Unlike honey bees and many other bee species, stingless bees have a unique characteristic: they lack a functional sting. While they do possess a stinger, it is so reduced in size that it cannot be used for defense or to deliver venom like the stingers of honey bees and bumblebees.
These bees build their nests in various cavities, including hollow tree trunks, rock crevices, and sometimes in human-made structures like pots or boxes. They construct waxen pots within their nests to store honey and pollen.
